How It All Works

At Shutter Design Studio we believe in keeping things simple. We’ve streamlined our process to make buying shutters really easy, and so you know what’s happening every step of the way.

Getting in touch is easy. You can either call us on the number at the top and bottom of this page or send us a message digitally by clicking the “Book A Free Quotation” button. Once we have your details, one of our local, friendly consultants will contact you to arrange a visit to your home. This is entirely free of charge, and there is no obligation to buy. We’re not pushy salespeople and won’t try to get you to sign up there and then! During the consultation, we will measure the windows you’d like shutters for and discuss how the shutters would look and operate on these windows. We’ll even be able to show you a 3D model of what the shutters would look like. We carry whole samples with us, so you’ll get to touch and feel the different materials, get an idea of how shutters operate and pick the colour to suit your decor. Our consultants are there to help you and advise you to make the process simple so that you feel comfortable choosing. Shutters are a great investment in your home so we are on hand to make sure you get exactly what you want!

Book A Free Consultation

Once we have left your home your consultant will email you your quotation. This will detail each window and the type of shutters you have chosen for them. You’ll be able to view all of the details such as material, frame type, layout and colour. If you have any questions on any of the details your sales consultant is just a call away. The quotation will detail the price and terms of sale and you can click on the acceptance button if you wish to proceed.

Quotation

Once you have accepted your quotation, you will receive an invoice showing the full amount of the job and the 50% deposit that is now due. We require a deposit paid prior to the order being made. As shutters are a custom product, measured to fit only your windows, we cannot order anything until this is received. Once the deposit is received, your sales consultant will be in touch to discuss if we need any more details or in the case of a complex job, we may want to re-visit to check all the details. Once we have placed the order in the system your deposit becomes non refundable as the process to manufacture your shutters starts immediately.

The Order Process

The lead time depends on the shutter product chosen and always starts when the order has been placed. Below is a list of the standard lead times however, we can offer express lead times for an additional cost (express train or air freight). Whilst we endeavour to be as accurate as possible, there are a number of situations outside our control that can increase the lead time. This could be shipping delays (port closures, ship issues, weather, etc) or even local transport delays (generally due to snow, ice or strikes). We will be in touch with you near the time of arrival and provide you with an update. We generally don't book installation until we know for sure your shutters have arrived, but you can discuss this with your consultant when we update you. One of the most frustrating parts of the job we do is managing lead times and expectations when situations arise out of our control. We really appreciate your patience if this does happen, and rest assured, we want to get your shutters installed asap.

Lead Times and Updates

You will receive the balance invoice when your installation is booked and we require payment made 48 hours prior to the day of installation.

Final Payment

Your installer will generally arrive between 8-10 am. We complete around 90% of all jobs in a day, but some bigger jobs may require two days. If you only have one or two windows, your installer may offer an afternoon installation time. Our installers need a little space to complete the final assembly of the shutters and room around the window to work. If you have old blinds or curtains that need to be removed, your installer will take these down but can’t make any holes, etc. We also do not take old blinds/curtains, etc, away unless agreed prior (due to the cost of dumping these commercially). We will, however, take all of our rubbish away and clean up after ourselves so that all you are left with is beautiful shutters! Here is a guide of what to expect from your shutters - CLICK HERE

Installation

We have sourced the best available shutters and feel so confident in our product that we provide a ten-year warranty.

Your warranty begins when your shutters are installed and lasts 10 years. This ensures that our craftsmanship and your shutters are protected against structural defects, warping, and significant discolouration of paint or stain. Of course, this guarantee applies as long as the shutters have been properly used and excludes normal wear and tear.
